WHAT WE DO

With support from the TeenOpps staff, our teens take the lead on deciding how to move the TeenOpps mission forward. The following represents a partial list of activities you could be involved in:

  • guiding the ongoing development of the TeenOpps site,
  • finding ways to make other teens aware of this unique Vermont resource,
  • identifying and creating opportunities for teens,
  • developing relevant content to include on the TeenOpps site,
  • and helping with fundraising activities.

We meet monthly throughout the year at places and times determined by our teens.

WHO CAN APPLY

At this time, only Chittenden County high school male students entering grade 11 in Fall 2012 are eligible.

WHAT YOU GET

Your service as a Teen Advisory Board member counts as volunteer time and can satisfy a community service requirement. Participation on our teen board is also a great way to gain leadership experience, chat with other like-minded teens from Vermont, and use your creativity and ideas to benefit other teens in the community. You will receive a letter from us certifying the time you spent volunteering with us, and we provide letters of recommendation for our teen board members for their academic, job or other pursuits.

CVU High School Students

Participation on the TeenOpps Teen Advisory Board might make you eligible to receive high school credit through the DUO Community Learning Program! In this program, students receive credit for community-based learning experiences with organizations that serve our community. Read more about it here. Contact Mary Anne Gatos in the Direction Center for more information.
