About Us

What We Are

Teenopps is a non-profit organization that maintains an online listing of opportunities for teenagers in Vermont. Our goal is to become the place Vermont teens turn to when they are looking for ways to engage with the world around them. The TeenOpps resource is free for Vermont communities to use in accordance with our website Terms of Use.

Our Mission

An ancient Chinese proverb says "Tell me, I will forget; show me, I may remember; involve me, and I will understand." TeenOpps believes that teenagers in the United States are a very capable, but often underutilized group. Our mission is to help young adults in Vermont (ages 13-19 years old) gain life and workplace skills by making it easier for them to connect with opportunities that are of interest to them.

How It Works

For teens looking for an opportunity: Click and browse! Use Search to narrow the number of opportunities that are of interest to you.

For those who have an opportunity for a teen, you may submit it in one of two ways:

  • Register and then follow the links to complete the Opportunity Listing Form. Your registration must be approved by the TeenOpps Site Manager before your listing appears in our resource. Once approved, you may access your account to modify your listing or add new ones.
  • If you prefer not to set up an account, you may submit your opportunity directly to us by clicking Fast Track Opportunity Submission.
  • Who We Are

Shelburne, Vermont parent, Susan Hull Grasso, founded TeenOpps in 2010 and was joined shortly thereafter by parent Sarah Vincent, also of Shelburne. Our Teen Advisory Board was created in 2011. Together, we are working to empower young people to get up, get involved and start learning first hand about the society they will one day lead.

    FAQs

Who can post opportunities for teens on this site?

We accept listings from anyone who has an opportunity for a teen, including businesses, non-profit organizations, civic organizations, schools, churches, recreation departments, libraries, and private residents.

Is there a fee to post opportunities or for teens to browse opportunities?

No. TeenOpps is committed to providing this service free-of-charge in order to promote widespread access.

How does this site protect teens from internet predators?

All organizations and individuals must be approved before they are permitted to post an opportunity online. However, just as one would take precautions when responding to an ad in a newspaper, we urge teens and their parents to check out any opportunity with which they are unfamiliar. Ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure that you are engaging in a safe experience. Please see our Safety Tips for Teens for more information.
